GEODI 312 - Actions and Workflows

GEODI 312 - Actions and Workflows

Purpose

In this training, we’ll introduce GEODI Actions and Workflows.

Actions refer to the operations you perform on discovered data—such as Secure Delete, Quarantine, or Bulk Masking.

These actions are part of a Workflow, allowing them to run automatically based on predefined rules. For example, if a document containing PII or PCI data is detected in a high-risk area, GEODI can automatically quarantine the file and mask its contents in place.

Scope

İş Akışları/Workflows 9 and Reviewing Results After a Discovery

Core Concepts

  • Workflows: Automate sequences of actions triggered by queries or events.

  • Query: Defines the scope—what data will be acted upon.

  • Actions: Operations executed on discovered data.

  • Events: Triggers like “Discovery Complete” or “File Created.”

  • Run Immediately: Execute the workflow manually at any time.

Available Actions

  • Secure Delete: Permanently removes data.

  • Quarantine: Moves risky content to a safe location.

  • Mask: Obfuscates sensitive information.

  • Classify: Applies metadata labels to content.

  • Encrypt: Protects content with encryption.

  • Copy: Creates a backup before further actions.

  • Send Email: Notifies users or groups with attachments.

Use Case Examples

  • Delete PII data automatically

  • Remove duplicate files from storage

  • Schedule periodic cleanups (e.g., monthly deletion)

  • Conditional deletion based on sensitivity or location

Advanced Topics

  • Combining and Ordering Actions:
Chain multiple actions for complex workflows (e.g., Copy → Classify → Delete).

  • Index and Results Monitoring:
Track action results via the Discovery Panel.

  • Cross-Source Actions:
    Apply actions across varied platforms:

    • Remote Endpoints (Windows/Linux/macOS)

    • SharePoint

    • Amazon S3

    • Databases

    • Emails (e.g., Exchange, IMAP)
