Search, Discovery and Act Page

Search, discover, and act on your data across all sources — using facets, maps, calendars, and actionable insights. This page is available in every project.

It is the central interface for discovery, classification, and governance, enabling you to locate sensitive data, generate reports, run workflows, and execute actions such as consent-based remediation.

1

The search box is one of the most powerful features of GEODI, acting as an internal search engine across all your data sources.

Simply type what you are looking for — from keywords to advanced queries — and instantly explore the results.

A single search includes all connected data sources. Results may come from file servers, SharePoint, emails, or even attachments within documents.

In most cases, search is the starting point — used before generating reports, running workflows, or analyzing results in dashboards.

For more details, see:
Query Rules

2

The Facet area simplifies query building by allowing you to quickly filter and refine results. You can narrow your search based on data sources, detected findings (such as PII or PCI), and content types.

For example, you can filter results to show only files from SharePoint, focus on personal data by selecting PII findings, or limit results to a specific file type such as PDF. You can also combine these filters to reach more precise results, such as viewing only Excel files that contain PII from a file server.

These filters help you quickly navigate large datasets and reach the most relevant information without writing complex queries. To reset your query and clear all filters, use the “X” icon in the search box.

3

You can view search results in different ways, such as Contents, Discovery, Map, and Calendar. Each view provides a different perspective on your data.

Note: Not all tabs may be visible. Visibility depends on settings, user permissions and licensing. For example, the Client panel is only available to System Administrators. Additional tabs (such as EMailThreatAI) may appear depending on installed modules and are explained in their respective pages.

Contents: Displays the files and other items in the search results. You can scroll through the results using the mouse wheel.

Map: Displays location-based content on a map. You can click on locations to access the related content.

Calendar: Automatically organizes results based on date information. You can select a date to view the corresponding documents.

Notes: Shows the notes you have created, along with the related content. Additional panels may be available depending on your environment.

4

Search results are displayed in this area. You can scroll through the results using the mouse wheel, and the total number of results is shown at the top left.

Each result may come from a different data source. When you click a result, it opens for viewing. In some cases, the content may open in its native application or link.

The three-dot menu includes actions such as taking notes and other related operations.

5

This area provides quick information about each item, such as detected findings, permissions, notes, and similar content.

For supported formats such as Office documents and PDFs, additional options like download and mask are available within the viewer.

6

The three-dot menu provides access to additional actions and settings related to your search results and current view.

From this menu, you can:

  • Change the language of the interface

  • Generate and access reports based on current results

  • Run or manage workflows on the selected data

  • Adjust view and display settings

Depending on your permissions and the installed modules, additional options may also be available.

7

Client: Provides a panel to monitor agents, including their status and activity. This panel is typically visible only to System Administrators.

8

Discovery: Displays a dashboard view of discovery results, showing which data sources contain data, what has been found, and overall trends. Like all tabs, the Discovery dashboard reflects the current search results. For example, when you search predefined:PII, the dashboard updates to show only the relevant findings.

Content Viewers

GEODI enables you to view many content types directly, without the need for external applications. In this example, a Word document is shown. GEODI also provides specialized viewers for formats such as DWG, NCZ, videos, emails, and more.

The following section outlines the common features available across all viewers.

image-20260403-135537.png

1

You can view documents in the content viewer and scroll using the mouse wheel. Hold Ctrl + mouse wheel to zoom in or out.

You can add notes anywhere by right-clicking on the document.

2

When multiple items are opened from search results, you can navigate between them sequentially using the <> icons, without returning to the results page.

3

In the panel on the right, you can view metadata, notes, copies, and versions of the content. Available details may vary depending on the content type.

To download an older version, use Shift + Download. This feature requires backup options to be enabled at the source.

4

This section also lists detected findings within the document. When you click a finding, the viewer navigates to the exact location whenever possible.

5

You can also search within the currently open document or download it if you have the required permissions.
