Privacy Issues
GEODI is designed to make it easier for you to access and explore your data repository. To do this, it needs access to the data. You can find your questions about the security and privacy of your data during the setup stages at GEODI Privacy Issues

GEODI Setup Link
...
After running the setup, GEODI starts in default mode and automatically opens a tab in the browser. You can access the administration and query interface by right-clicking on GEODI in the System-Tray. Windows service or IIS service setups can be activated later.
Please consult for non-internet environments.
...
License Activation
...
Before setup, you must specify an email address to which the License will be linked and provide it to DECE sales or technical teams. You will receive an email with the license key when your license is created.
You must enter an e-mail address set when GEODI was first started in default mode. Then you continue by entering the transmitted license code. After this process, GEODI Modules included in your License will be automatically downloaded and installed. Now you can move on to project creation and other settings.
...
Setup of Modules
...
After activating your License, the modules will be downloaded and installed automatically. You should make settings after setup. Please ask for support from DECE teams for modules not included in these pages.
...
Public Address / SSL Identification
...
A public address is needed for users to access the GEODI server. An SSL-certified FQDN is recommended for secure access. Our users use addresses like geodi.yourdomain.com or arabul.yourdomain.com. After the public address definition and SSL certificate setup on the server, GEODI Configuration should be done as follows.

Installation
Download the setup file and run it. GEODI may run as a Windows service or EXE during a log-on user session. For uninterrupted service, you must choose Windows Service.
During the setup, a license code will be asked. The setup automatically downloads from the DECE-STORE and installs the modules included in your license.
If DECE-STORE (service.decesoftware.com) access is available, offline installation is required. Offline installation and maintenance is somewhat more complicated. We suggest following the standard installation by allowing limited access to DECE-STORE.
After installation, the GEODI Manager Page opens at http://127.0.0.1:3323/manager.
This address is locally available; you must define an address reachable from the endpoints for Classification and GDE Discovery Agents.
The next step is to install templates for regulations from the DECE-STORE. You may search DECE-STORE for countries, regulations, or needs. Once these add-ons are installed, the update will be automatic.
If you prefer offline installation, the module updates should be done manually. We suggest that you allow limited access to DECE-STORE for complete automatic updates.

GEODI AppDataFolder
GEODI stores workspace definitions, indexes, and logs in the %appdata% directory, which is created automatically during installation. This directory belongs to the login user.
If the user who installed GEODI and the Windows service user differ, the following settings should be made. Otherwise, you won’t be able to access the license or other information generated during installation.

It is possible to customize some appearance and content in the GEODI user interface. You can remove and add GEODI data display options (Content, Map Calendar...), and it is also possible to use different-looking themes.
...
If OCR License is available
...
OCR takes a long time and consumes a lot of CPU resources. Therefore, we recommend that you consider some considerations when applying it to extensive data.
GEODI OCR Engine OCRs scanned documents in default mode and present them with GEODI. You can search and find scanned documents.
It can also output scanned pages as SPDF (Searchable PDF). The SPDF option can extend the time from x3 to x5 compared to the default mode. It also requires additional disk space for SPDF files.
GEODI OCR can also OCR huge scanned images such as A0, and A1 maps. This option is turned off in default mode.
If you have a GEODI 360 license, you can also OCR videos. In this case, you have to allocate much higher CPU resources.
...
If a Corporate Search License is available
...
Having an Enterprise Search license technically means that there will be more users. To provide uninterrupted service to users, FKM and index backup procedures should be operated in addition to the server being sufficient.
For Institutional Search to be effective, it is recommended that data is presented in a single project and authorizations are organized appropriately.
Different units have different data access needs. GEODI Enterprise Search solution provides access to all of them from a single platform. Separate training should be planned for each unit when necessary. DECE teams will support you at all stages.

If Data Discovery License is Available
...
You will connect a large number of sources for data discovery. If enterprise search is not included, it will be available to a limited number of users. Depending on your purpose (Institutional sensitive data discovery Finance, PCI/DSS GDPR), the selection of sources and recognizers determines the success of the result.
The discovery panel will provide information about the results from the first moment of indexing. This panel may be shared live or as a PDF.
The discovery panel will show the risks and incompatibilities. According to the results of this panel, you can carry out Destruction and Quarantine procedures after Indexing.
...
If Geographic Archive License is Available
...
The Geo Archive application is a use case of GEODI Enterprise Search. System requirements, authorization, and other considerations apply.
For a municipality, road administration, or an organization that produces geographic data, it is recommended to have at least one of the LandParcel Recognizer, Station Number Recognizer, or GeoArchive modules. The DECE team will provide the necessary support for the setup of these modules.
...
If GDE License is Available
...
The GEODI endpoint or PC discovery tool is called GEODI Desktop Explorer, or GDE for short. GDE can be installed on multiple PCs. GDEs will feed GEODI Server with the selected directories and file types on the endpoint. GDE and Backpup option will ensure files on the PCs to be stored in a central location.
You can find all the necessary steps for GDE setup and deployment of agents to the endpoints on the following page.

Disk RequirementMake sure the disk has enough storage for the index and index backups. The index size is about 10% to 20% of the total data size. GEODI Logs are kept in the same area. Logs older than 90 days will automatically be deleted. |
Defining SSL Certificate
For Classification and Agent PC Discovery projects, the GEODI address must be secure and accessible to clients. To ensure this, you must make the following settings in GEODI for the SSL Certificate. For details, refer to the page. Definitions must be made before agent deployments.
The following SSL definitions should be in the SystemSettings.json
file in the GEODI installation directory.

Installation as a Windows Service
After installation, GEODI becomes a continuous service by starting the GEODI.WindowsServiceInstall.bat file as an administrator. Windows will ask for your administrator username and password.
The user is expected to have access permissions for directories and other Windows sources that GEODI will index. If the user cannot access these sources, you must add authorized users to GEODI. To uninstall the service, run GEODI.WindowsServiceUnInstall.bat in the same directory.
GEODI service will take its place as “GEODI.WindowsService” in the service list. You can start/stop it whenever you like.
While the service is getting started, GEODI.exe must be closed. GEODI.exe may be run when the service is started, the .exe file will connect with the service automatically. You may use this process in rare cases which require the Windows Form interface.
...
Subst/Mapped Folders
If GEODI sources include a mapped directory or for other startup-related work, the necessary *.bat file must be put in the GEODI → Settings/BatchFiles/Startup directory.

Software Update
Note |
---|
We constantly update the software because we value quality and user experience. For a GEODI update, running the "update.bat" command that comes with the installation as an administrator is sufficient. You run the command and leave it. All necessary operations will be performed on a running system. You can turn "update.bat" command to a scheduled task with an authorized user.
GEODI modules get updates more frequently than the main GEODI version. To update modules only, you may run UpdateModules.bat. |
Offline Installation
GEODI downloads the modules from DECE-STORE by default. If the server cannot access DECE-STORE, you should make the following settings.
DECE teams will provide you
*.GeodiModuleX
files, and you should put them in the<geodifolder>/LocalDECESTORE
folder. DECE teams will update you with new files when they are available. Then, the
ModuleStoreFolder
value inSystemSettings.json
should be set to<geodifolder>/LocalDECESTORE.
No extra processes are needed for GDE and Classifier agents.
You can update the GEODI setup as usual.
License Update
Run LicenseUpdate.bat to open the dialog.
If you need to move the GEODI to another machine, you should deactivate the license and then reactivate it on the new machine.
You should also apply the new license keys on the same dialog.
You do not need to stop the service.
