Scope

1. GDE Agent Deployment needs a token, a GEODI server to feed and preferences that all explained in https://decesw.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/geodien/pages/3972202552/GEODI+Desktop+Explorer+GDE+Installation

2. Creating a token user as a best practice.

3. For a large number of endPoints, you must use a tool like ManageEngine, SCCI, or similar. All information is in https://decesw.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/geodien/pages/3972202552/GEODI+Desktop+Explorer+GDE+Installation. Installation procedure are different for each OS.

4. You may use GDE to Discover file servers as well. In this case, you may run the installation and manually enter the values for each Server. GDE should be configured as Windows Service for Windows OS.

5. It is possible to use different preferences for each endPoint/Server and settings stored centrally for each endpoint. You may use a single setting for all or customize settings by IP or ComputerName. Any change becomes affective in about 2-3 hours.

6. GDE wakes every 2 hours and feeds the local files to the server. The server may not be able to process all the files, but they wait in a queue, and there is no need to intervene.

7. Changed files will be versioned. Any file deleted on the EndPoint resides in GEODI Index. To purge such content you should time to time run Delete the Deleteds command in the Index maintenance.

8. GEODI has some preset rules to prevent GDE feeds from bogging the network and server. By default, videos and files bigger than 100BM is filtered out. Compressed files has a 500MB limitations. You may change this limitations.

9. It is possible to Batch Classify files discovered with GDE if Classificaion Agent is also installed in the same EndPoint.

10. Agents updates themselves for Widnows endPOints when a new version is ready. The default update adres is DECE Servers.

11. For large number of endPoints, We strongly recommend that you change and set an offline update environment for your organization. The pages cover offline installation details.
